Affiliate Marketing – 6 Benefits of This Low Cost Business Strategy

Ever heard of affiliate programs? They’re a good internet marketing strategy that rewards the affiliates for driving traffic to the advertiser or for other transactions.

The advertiser pays the affiliate to place a link on their website, and the affiliate sends traffic to the advertiser in return. Simply put, it’s about paying commissions to people who help you make sales. It’s that easy, well kind of…
Affiliate marketing has its ups and downs. It can be draining if you are not armed with updated information, technical how-to’s and good search engine optimisation tactics.
Here are the following reasons on why web marketers go gaga over affiliate marketing as a form of Internet advertisement.
1. Low cost
Many are scared to go on a home based business because of the capital required. In affiliate marketing, you don’t have to spend much to start raking in cash.
2. Inventories not included
Product management fuss can be very stressing. An inventory is not asked to be maintained. The merchant does the maintenance required.
3. Unlimited income through leverage
When you have a paid job, your monthly income mainly relies on whether you go to work or not. With affiliate marketing, your affiliates could all just lead traffic to your site without having to lift a finger after providing them your ad copy and links. This breaks the link between money in exchange for your valuable time.
4. Go worldwide
With affiliate marketing, you are dealing with a global market place. All you have to do is choose a niche product and prepare all the necessary tools for your affiliates to lead traffic from just about anywhere to your website.
5. Low risk
The very main reason for Internet marketer’s enthusiasm with affiliate marketing is its having a low risk factor. Especially for those with low budget set aside for advertising, affiliate marketing is just the way to do it.
6. No closing time, no sick employees!
With affiliate marketing, your business works every single second of the day while targeting a worldwide market and you have no staff absences or complaints :-) What could be better than that?
The most important thing to remember, however, is having the right niche product and all the other good internet marketing strategy tools to make it big in affiliate marketing, i.e. a well-SEO-ed website. These need to be covered before you see the big benefits of affiliate marketing.

Editorial Review: Armand Morin Seminar Review – How Seminars Can Change Your Life!

Check out this article written by Jeff Mills about the Armand Morin Seminar and how seminars can change your life and accelerate your learning and income dramatically and rapidly. I’ve met Jeff a number of times, he’s a cool guy – a very enthusiastic and helpful internet marketer, not to mention successful. He really hits the nail on the head with his views on seminars…

Attending Live Seminars and Conferences Will Increase Sales & Make You More Money

Have you ever been to a seminar that was on your favorite topic and came home with pages of notes, all written in scribble scratch, because you were devouring all the speakers’ words and writing notes lightning fast? You loved the stories and powerful illustrations that set your mind on fire with ideas.

Remember those break-through moments you experienced when you sat at the bar and bought your favorite Guru or Idol a drink and listened intently as they shared with you the specialized knowledge that got them to ‘legend status?’ Have you experienced a seminar, so powerful your life was never the same and it changed your business for the better?

I must confess, I am a seminar junkie and I love to attend seminars and meet and network with people there. But I don’t just go to any seminars. For me I attend marketing conferences on niche topics dealing with increasing your online marketing business results and making more money from the internet. My first really huge seminar that I attended was the Big Seminar, from Armand Morin back in March 2004.

I owe lots to Armand for what he and his faculty taught me. I felt like I had drank water from a fire hose for 3 straight days… yet, I came home from that conference with so many ideas, my head was spinning just trying to figure out which idea to implement first.

There are 3 important things you can get out of continuing education seminars that I wanted to share with you.

1. Personal Development: Most people do not continue their education after they finish with formal schooling. In fact, when most people graduate from college that’s the last time they’ll pick up a book to try and learn new information about their chosen profession, unless they are forced to continue their education. Some professions that require continuing education include academia, medicine, and the legal profession. Personally, I think continuing education should be required for all professions.

As a Youth Pastor, I went to many national Youth Ministry and Pastors conventions to allow my ministry and personal development to flourish. When you stop learning, you stop growing. You agree, right? That’s part one of our three-pronged approach – learning to break out of self-imposed limits and start thinking in new ways that will allow us to experience success that we have not yet enjoyed.

2. Business Development Prong two is all about business development, and I want to focus on marketing. I know that when I started in business, I had no idea what marketing really was. It’s shocking to discover how many people have had marketing educations in our colleges and universities, and yet don’t have the first idea of how to apply their knowledge in a practical, real world business situation.

The internet is a great direct response tool, but too many don’t know how to tap into the millions of niche markets out there. There are systematic approaches to marketing and selling that when followed work flawlessly. Going to seminars, with great speakers will help you learn those systems. There’s a right way to do things, and a wrong way to do things. Having a great teaching faculty will help one explore and explain these business systems that will allow you to produce your products, market your products, and deliver to your customers what they truly want and need in an efficient, proven, reliable way that makes you profits.

3. JV’s And Networking The third prong of conference attending is about power networking. Many people know the value of meeting new business acquaintances at seminars and conferences, but don’t fully take advantage of the power of those relationships. I don’t mean this from an exploitative standpoint; I simply mean that there are opportunities to connect with people in a meaningful way, so that both parties make more money.

At the events you go to, I encourage you to network. If you’ve been around the Internet marketing world for any length of time, you’ve heard the term “joint venture.” Most people don’t really know what a true joint venture is. With this 3 prong approach for attending live continuing education seminars, you surely will get more out of each event when you improve your personal life, improve your business through using new techniques, and you will find new partners and joint venture associates which can take your sales to the next level.

Creating Backlinks To Your Website

Here’s a great way to create lots of backlinks to your website, to help with search engine optimisation (SEO) that I learnt from Mark Vurnum, multi-millionaire Internet Marketer who has thousands of blogs!

1. Go to www.Technorati.com, the blog search engine.

2. Type in ‘internet marketing’ in the ‘Search the blogoshere…’ box

3. Click to go into the first blog site (i.e. the websites that are listed)

4. Scan to check that you are able to add a comment to articles, if not, exit site. 5. If able to add a comment, find a good article/post to comment on – no need to be too choosey here, usually first one will do.

6. Find a hook in the article that you can comment about.

7. In the website field add your website URL, with the http://, eg  ‘http://www.iLearnInternetMarketing.com’

8. Click to add a comment.

9. In the ‘name’ field, enter your keyword, eg ‘Learn Internet Marketing’ – this is very important, don’t use a person’s name, you are keyword optimising here.

10. If required to put an e-mail address, enter ‘comments@yoursite.com’ – this must be valid, so set up am new e-mail address if necessary.

11. In the comments field, enter the following: – Comment on how great/thought provoking/interesting you thought the article was. Then add 5 or 6 lines, referring to something in the post/article. Then pose a question to finish, ‘does anyone know…’, ‘who else thinks…’, ‘does anyone agree?’ ‘do you have any other sites?’ etc. Finally, add your URL, eg http://www.iLearnInternetMarketing.com (NB, it’s probably best to copy your URL as correctly formatted to clipboard so can paste easily over and over again when doing this marketing exercise.

12. Submit the comment and make sure it appears or says ‘awaiting consideration’ NB Some sites will not allow you to put a URL in the main body and will not post the comment with it in, in this case resubmit the comment without the URL. Conversely, some sites have no website field, in which case, ensure the URL is in the comment body.

13. Click back to Technorati and repeat the process, systematically going down the list of sites.

You’re a Sales Person! Effective Presentations

Strange as it may seem, our life is made up of a series of “sales presentations”.  Sales may not be your gig, but if you’re the boss you’re making  presentations everyday.

Be it a pitch to your Board, announcing a policy change to employees, selling an idea to  your spouse, or just trying to win others over to your point of view – you need to punch up your people skills for winning pitches.

Human nature is such that people support solutions that they help create, so involve them by allowing your audience to participate with questions or ideas.

It goes without saying that to not involve key people is risky, because messages can be misunderstood.   Your plans may be derailed before they begin if sufficient “buy-in” is lacking.  Use lots of open-ended questions in your presentation to draw out the silent type.

When delivering a presentation, preparation is a key to success.  Prepare your listeners to what’s coming during or before your presentation.  Try these pre-meeting tactics:

  • Assign task-related pre-work. This could be pre-reading or study of a problem, and the preparations of possible solutions.  An example could be, “go and visit three kinds of accounting firms before the meeting.”
  • Make pre-meeting contacts with those invited by email, phone, or in person.  You might want to try an informal survey to get people’s position on the issues at hand.

Remember, support on key or controversial matters can be established ahead of time by lobbying, if you know where to lobby.

Do your research!  People who make it look easy and are effective presenters have a hidden arsenal.  This is an arsenal of up-to-date, organized material that can be accessed quickly in ready-to-use form when needed.  They have the stats to back up their ideas, and they have a mental arsenal of stories, examples, jokes, and ice-breakers to use when needed.

Your physical presentation could include tangible items relating to the issue, such as recent articles clipped from newspapers or magazines, photographs, reports, and demonstration items.

To become masterful in this art learn to maintain resources you can access for just the right thing at the right time.

The next thing you must do is to explain “why?” The single most powerful thing you can do to convince your audience of something is to provide a convincing reason why they should do what you suggest or believe what you say.  People want and need a clear “WIIFM” – “what’s in it for me?” – to be able to react positively to what you want them to do.  It’s extremely important that you deliver a vision of benefits.  Hearing the “why” won’t automatically generate a “yes” to your proposition, but it’ll open the door for receptivity to your idea.

Knowing and accepting the “why” satisfies a basic need that we all have – to understand the purpose of our actions.  Use the words “because” or “so that” in your presentation and then finish the phrase – the is the key to influence.

When your subject matter is controversial or likely to generate emotions, it is essential that your “why’s” be tested in advance.  Ask some people you trust or that are on your “team” to play devil’s advocate to help you with your logic and arguments.

These are just four key points for making successful presentations, there are many more but for now, let me leave you with this thought…

Life is a sales job from beginning to end. From the moment that we discern how to get approval as children, winning friends at school, getting our first beau, getting our first (and subsequent) job, getting engaged and married, achieving our goals, and anything else you can think of in between – we’re selling ourselves or our ideas all along the way.  Who said you weren’t a salesperson?

Viral Marketing

Viral marketing is a cool term for word of mouth on the Internet.  It is where people hear about your website service or products through other people.  Sending an email with an advertisement on the bottom is a good way to spread the word.

Having a newsletter also increases your visibility online.  There are also forums that discuss products and services and rate them.  Viral marketing’s referral technique works like the snowball effect, which increases exponentially the visibility of your business.  Getting personal recommendations to try a product or service is a great way to build credibility and trust in the company.  Repeating these referrals to other people makes the customer actively engage themselves and not passively hear about the products advantages.

Viral marketing is a great way to keep advertising costs way down.  Passing along an article from an ezine keeps the message intact, is free and easy to pass along, and doesn’t cost anything, but offers a clear benefit to both parties involved.

Here are some ways to make your viral marketing message work:

You can give away a free article, report or ebook with a ‘pass it on’ link on the bottom, or a free demo version of your product, or offer a free trial of your service on your web site and include a share it with your friend button at the bottom of the page.  You could also hold a contest and capture people’s contact information and each time their friends come to the site, they are entered into the contest again.  Starting your own affiliate program, where affiliates generate traffic to your website with banner ads, text links, letters of referrels, etc.  You pay for results only.

Viral marketing is the way to achieve high traffic cheaply and effectively on the web.  Provide your customers with a compelling reason to pass on the message and you are well on your way to big time traffic – if it’s done correctly then viral marketing can increase the traffic to your website exponentially.

Basic Search Engine Optimization Intro

When your website is ranked well in the most popular search engines, you get more visitors clicking on your site. The more visitors you get the more business you get. Did you know that about 20 percent to 80 percent of your visitors will find your web site through the search engines.

Studies show that most people do not look past the fourth page of results. There was a time when you could use free submission services that would submit your website to search engines and directories. At one time, that would actually get you ranked OK. Nowadays, that won’t do anything for you. You want to get ranked at LEAST on the first page of Google and Yahoo. The better option would be to get ranked in the top 3 listings of both Google and Yahoo. This isn’t easy.

All search engines spider or crawl the Web and automatically index your web site based on their own secretive algorithms, which are constantly changing. How do you get ranked well. You can use pay-per-click, which is where you bid for top ranking positions under keywords of your choice. Just make sure that the bids you make are not more than what each customer is worth to you in your site. For ex, if your maximum bid per click is $10.00 and it takes 100 visitors to make a sale, you are probably going to lose money.

To get high ranked, you need to have a website with fresh content, that has well-crafted and interwoven keywords and meta data and good links to other sites with high page ranking. You could have an rss feed in your site so that the content is fresh (although it is considered duplicate content and won’t in itself rank well) and new articles are submitted to keep the customers interested and the search engines satisfied.

Search engines are looking for fresh information, good linking, and relevance. Keep these points in mind and set forth with that high ranked site.

The currency of SEO is relevancy – for example your keyword in your domain name and relavant good content and BACKLINKS – lots of them.

This will be discussed further in posts under ‘SEO’ and ‘Keywords’ categories.

Google Adwords Capitalization of Ad Text

iLearn Internet Marketing Top Tip:

If you use Google Adwords Pay Per Click (PPC) campaigns to advertise online your products (and services, although I’d encourage moving away from a service-based business and exchanging your time for money), keep in mind the following:

When constructing ads, don’t over-capitalize the words in the text, or Google will suspend your campaign. This happened to me when I used the word ‘FREE’ in all-caps. It looks spammy and Google will not approve it. Use Adwords capitalization carefully.

Instead, just capitalize the first letter of each word. You can see below how I’ve amended my ad to meet approval (the one in the red box) and the campaign is live again.
